Dolly Montoya, Vice-Rector of Research (2014-2016)

Professor Dolly Montoya Castaño majored on Pharmacy at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá campus, (1976), and holds an M. Sc. on Basic Biomedical Sciences at National Autonomous University of Mexico (1983) and a Ph. D. on Sciences at Technological University Munich (2003, thesis «Anaerobic, Solvent-Producing Bacteria: Molecular Characterisation, Polysaccharolytic Activity and Agro-Industrial Waste Degradation», magna cum laude). She is a staff, tenured professor at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where she co-founded its Institute of Biotechnology (IBUN) in 1982.

Ms Montoya was President of the Corporation for the Industrial Development of Biotechnology (Corporación para el Desarrollo Industrial de la Biotecnología, CORPODIB) from 1994 to 2002. She has been IBUN Director several times and Academic Director for the Bogotá campus at UNAL.co in 2004. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of University of Sussex in 2011.

Professor Montoya was the Vice-Rector of Research at Universidad Nacional de Colombia between 5 June 2014 and 27 October 2016.

Professor Montoya was appointed Rector of Universidad Nacional de Colombia by the University Superior Council to the 2018-2021 term.
